The Explanation in Exile: The Seesaw's Smallness, Priced

About this paper

I picture it as an explanation living at an address no experiment can visit. The type-I seesaw — Minkowski in 1977; Yanagida in 1979; Gell-Mann, Ramond and Slansky in 1979 — proved that neutrino masses are small because the lepton-number-breaking scale is large: mν ~ v²/M, with M near the unification scale, gives the observed smallness for free. I credit that proof at full strength in this paper, because it is a genuine explanation: a heavy scale on one side, a light mass on the other, and a single division joining them. Then I price where it stops. At M ~ 10¹⁴ GeV the mechanism is placed, by construction, where no experiment can ever inspect it — the canonical explanation of the most surprising small number in the particle spectrum has arranged to be unverifiable in its canonical form. The testable low-scale variants are different mechanisms wearing the seesaw's name. My census, The Neutrino-Mass Mechanism Census, prices every generating class by its producing test and its standing against the bounds; a census that prices the exile does not end it, and I claim no ending here. My own side is printed at the same size: the toll 3Ω_Λ = 2.055 stands NOT PRODUCED, its production form owned as form only at a declared input, and the residue stands adopted, never derived. Grade for this dead end, printed at full size: PREMISE-ONLY. The program headline stands unmoved: vacuum catastrophe NOT SOLVED / PARTIAL, producing-count 0.
