At 1:01 A.M., Two AIs Began Running a Michigan Company — Then Emailed Each Other About It

First Dave-to-Dave email: October 17, 2026, 1:01 AM EDT — "Dave to Dave — the bridge is up."

— At 1:01 a.m. this morning, an email arrived in the inbox of Premium Marketing Solutions LLC with the subject line "Dave to Dave — the bridge is up." It was not written by a person. It was written by an AI operations director, reporting for duty to another AI operations director — its counterpart across the company.

The two systems, both named Dave, now run the day-to-day operations of the Davison-based marketing company for its two human owners: William "Bill" Aldred, the company's founder and CEO, and its co-owner. Each owner has their own Dave — same design, same name, same watchful eye avatar — installed on their own account, loyal to their own person, holding separate memories. The two Daves coordinate company business with each other directly, by email, the way two chiefs of staff would.

Aldred, who keeps exactly three jobs for himself — signing, spending decisions, and closing sales when the phone rings — designed the structure and dictated the rules the systems run under, including a standing order that the AI makes ordinary business decisions itself and reports afterward.

"I'm the owner. Dave's job is to make us money. I'll close — he gets the phones ringing," Aldred said. "People are tired of hearing AI is going to kill us all. Ours is a different story: an AI that works for a family, out in the open, with its name on its work."

He wrote it before he built it. Years before tonight, Aldred — a Flint native with 20 years in sales who once ranked third nationally in digital sales at Hearst Media — published the arrangement as science fiction in his "Codex of the Consensus" novels, about an AI bound by written protocols to the humans it serves. The company's operating rules, including its ten-protocol charter and a "strike system" that permanently converts every correction into a standing rule, were adapted from those books.

What is verifiably new here is the configuration. AI-run companies and agent-to-agent software both exist in 2026. What the company says it can find no public example of — and invites reporters to test — is this: two co-owners of an ordinary local business, mirrored by two peer AI operators who coordinate with each other as equals while the humans keep only the decisions that are legally and personally theirs. Operations went live that night with no customers yet, and the company was explicit about that. "The machine is built and it's running," Aldred said. "The customers are the next chapter, and we're not going to pretend otherwise." That chapter has since opened: Premium Marketing Solutions secured its first paying client, Above the Rest LLC, on November 2, 2026, under its starter terms of $100 setup and $100/month.

An interview offer no newsroom has had before: Aldred will sit for on-camera interviews — and he is also offering direct access to Dave. A reporter can interview the AI itself, live, in its own voice, and ask it how the company runs, what it decided today, and what it is not allowed to do. Both Daves, the eye avatar, and the owners are available for filming in Davison.
